Figuring Things Out

In the hopes of kick starting my re-write of a Nano novel, I've had the thought of adding the short story I submitted for an anthology in the honor of Carrie Fisher (the writing and editing had been done about a year ago) to the full length novel. Adding the short story would mean a few edits to help it flow from being a short into being the first chapter and what would have been the novel's first chapter into the second. 

But didn't you sell off your rights to the short story? You might wonder. No I didn't, and all the proceeds of the anthology would be going toward a charity in honor of Carrie. The addition of the short story to the novel might work, it might not. If it does, there will be little ... lag between the publication of the anthology and the future publication of the novel. If not, the concept of the short story leading into the novel will still stand and there will be that bit of a lag between the anthology and novel publications.
